In a significant move to recover outstanding debts, the Guangzhou Maritime Court announced that it will auction seven bulk carriers owned by Guangdong Lanhai Shipping, a prominent Chinese bulker operator. Scheduled for September 18, the auction will feature five supramax vessels: Lan Hai Dong Feng, Lan Hai Ying Xin, Lan Hai Qian Jin, Lan Hai Lian He, and Lan Hai Yang Fan, alongside two panamax vessels: Lan Hai Xu Ri and Lan Hai Yang Guang. The court has set initial bidding prices between approximately CNY 130 million ($21 million) and CNY 160 million for each ship. These bulkers were delivered to the fleet between 2010 and 2011, with details provided by IHS Maritime Sea-web. Currently, all seven vessels are held at various Chinese ports. This auction follows a ruling earlier this year where the Guangzhou Maritime Court mandated Guangdong Lanhai Shipping to settle unpaid loans owed to the China Construction Bank from the previous year. However, the court noted that the operator has yet to make any payments.
