On July 20, 2024, the container ship 'Lobivia' became the target of a missile attack by Houthi militants while navigating through the Gulf of Aden. The assault involved multiple ballistic missiles and drones, with two missiles striking the vessel approximately 83 nautical miles southeast of Aden. Fortunately, all crew members onboard remained unharmed during the incident. Despite a fire igniting on the ship following the missile strikes, the onboard crew was able to successfully control and extinguish the blaze. Following the attack, the 'Lobivia' is en route to the port of Berbera to evaluate the extent of the damage inflicted.
