On the evening of August 17, 2018, at 9 p.m., the diligent team at NSRI Port Elizabeth received an urgent call for medical assistance from the bulk carrier 'DHT Lotus.' This ship, carrying a full load, was navigating the waters of the South African coast on its way to Singapore when a 38-year-old Indian crew member sustained a serious eye injury of unknown origin. In a significant maritime deal, DHT Holdings, a Bermuda-based company, has expanded its fleet by purchasing several vessels for a staggering total of $256 million.
