On March 28, 2018, the United States Coast Guard executed a medical evacuation of a 26-year-old crew member from the gas tanker 'Prins Alexander' located 195 nautical miles south-southeast of Southwest Pass, Louisiana. This critical operation was initiated when the Eighth Coast Guard District command center received an urgent notification from the Secretaría de Marina (Mexican Naval Secretariat), indicating that the crewman was experiencing severe jaw pain. At the time of the report, the tanker was positioned roughly 275 miles south of Grand Isle and approximately 80 nautical miles south of the maritime boundary line. Due to SEMAR's inability to perform the necessary medevac, they sought assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard. In response, watchstanders promptly dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, along with an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew from the Coast Guard Aviation Training Center in Mobile, Alabama. The skilled aircrew successfully hoisted the affected individual aboard and subsequently transported him to Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, where emergency medical services were on standby. The patient was then moved to Ochsner Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment; however, his current medical condition remains undisclosed.
