A fire incident occurred on July 1 around midday when the fishing vessel "Marion" caught fire approximately 10 kilometers off the coast of Wijk aan Zee. The blaze, ignited by a gas bottle situated on the foreship, quickly generated thick smoke, prompting a swift response from local authorities. Fortunately, fire crews managed to control the situation by the afternoon. At the time of the incident, there were 41 leisure fishers on board, who were safely assisted by lifeboats deployed from IJmuiden, Zandvoort, and Wijk aan Zee. In addition to the lifeboats, a tugboat and a helicopter were also dispatched to the scene, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all individuals involved.
