Bouchard Transportation Unveils New ATB Vessels in New Orleans

Aug 25, 2015 09:32

Bouchard Transportation Co. has marked a significant milestone in its fleet expansion by officially christening two advanced vessels, M/V Kim M. Bouchard and B. No. 270, in a ceremony held in New Orleans. Earlier this year, the B. No. 270 was successfully launched at VT Halter Shipyard Operations in Pascagoula, Mississippi, while the tugboat Kim M. Bouchard was unveiled at the Moss Point Marine facility in Escatawpa, Mississippi. Notably, the tug is named in honor of Morton S. Bouchard III's older sister, reflecting the personal legacy of the company's leadership. Together, these two vessels represent the largest additions to Bouchard's fleet to date. The B. No. 270 boasts impressive dimensions of 628 x 91 x 47 feet and a robust capacity of 260,000 barrels, earning it ABS and USCG certification for Jones Act service. Designed for efficiency, the B. No. 270 features a fully equipped crew, a crude oil washing system, an inert gas system, a clean water ballast system, and an array of pumps designed for optimal performance. On the other hand, the Kim M. Bouchard is a powerful tug with a 10,000 hp twin-screw configuration and is classified by ABS as +A1 Towing Vessel, Dual Mode ATB, and USCG Subchapter M, featuring an Intercon Coupler System. This duo is set to enhance Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc.'s capabilities for transporting liquid petroleum. Additionally, the sister vessels M/V Donna J. Bouchard and B. No. 272 are currently under construction at VT Halter Marine and are expected to be delivered later this year.
