In a significant development for global shipping, Danish maritime powerhouse Maersk Line has officially named its newest H-Class vessel, the MAERSK HORSBURGH, during a ceremony held in South Korea. Constructed at the renowned Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard, this ultra-large container vessel (ULCV) boasts an impressive deadweight capacity of 162,100 tons. Measuring 353 meters in length and 53.5 meters in width, the MAERSK HORSBURGH is valued at approximately USD 113.07 million, according to VesselsValue. Designed to enhance operational efficiency, this vessel can accommodate 15,226 TEU while being 46 meters shorter than its predecessor, the Emma Class. Maersk Line highlighted that these new ships are engineered for operational versatility, poised to adapt to evolving trade routes. The enhanced capacity of the H-Class vessels allows them to operate effectively on East-West trade lanes, while their streamlined dimensions enable access to smaller ports typically serviced on North-South routes. The MAERSK HORSBURGH is part of a recent influx of large container vessels entering Maersk's fleet this year, aimed at phasing out older, less efficient models.
