Historic Arrival: Maersk Laguna Makes History at Jade Weser Port

On September 21, 2012, the 'Maersk Laguna' will carve its name in maritime history as the inaugural merchant vessel to dock at the newly constructed Jade-Weser-Port in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Arriving from South America, the 'Maersk Laguna' is set to deliver a cargo primarily consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables. Starting at the end of September, Maersk plans to establish two shipping services operating from both South America and Asia at this strategic port. Notably, the prior arrival of the 'MSC Flaminia', which is expected to reach the port around September 8 in a gutted state, will precede the 'Maersk Laguna'. This event marks a significant milestone in the development of the Jade-Weser-Port as a key hub in global trade.
