Container Ship 'Maersk Leon' Involved in Bremerhaven Incident
On the morning of October 29, 2015, the container vessel 'Maersk Leon', arriving from Tilbury, encountered a mishap at Columbus Quay in Bremerhaven despite the assistance of tugs. The incident was attributed to challenging weather conditions, specifically dense fog that limited visibility to approximately 50 meters. As a result of the allision, the hull of the ship sustained a two-meter breach caused by a steel ladder affixed to the quay, leading to visible damage above the waterline and affecting the ship's frames as well as the quay itself. Following necessary repairs conducted on-site, the 'Maersk Leon' departed from port on November 2 at around 11 p.m., setting course for Antwerp with an estimated arrival time of November 4 at 2 p.m. For further details, you can access the German report, which includes a photo of the incident, at http://www.presseportal.de/blaulicht/pm/35235/3160574.
