On March 5, 2015, at precisely 1:55 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Monte Alegre', which was en route from Altamira, experienced a collision with the product tanker 'Chembulk Houston' south of Eagle Point near San Leon, Houston. Following the incident, the Houston Ship Channel was temporarily closed between buoys 26 and 42, resuming operations at 3 p.m. Both vessels sustained minor damage during the collision. At the time of the incident, they were both on approach to their respective ports.
