Final Departure of Maersk's Anden Service Between South America and Europe
Maersk has announced the cessation of its Anden service connecting Chile and Peru with Northern Europe. The final vessel on this route, the 'Marianne Schulte,' is scheduled to depart from San Antonio on May 20, 2012, and will set sail from Callao on May 23. Meanwhile, the last ship arriving in South America will be the 'Thekla Schulte,' which is set to leave Rotterdam on May 23, followed by stops in Tilbury on May 24, Hamburg on May 26, and Antwerp on May 28. Although this marks the end of direct services, Peru and Chile will still be accessible through Balboa, with a new direct route launching from Santa Marta that promises an improved transit time of just 12 days.
