Maersk Nomazwe Comes to Rescue of Damaged 'Maersk Sana'
On April 22, 2025, the 'Maersk Nomazwe' set sail from Algeciras, but just days later, on April 28, it was called to action to assist its distressed fleet mate, the 'Maersk Sana'. The 'Maersk Sana' suffered a serious engine room explosion, prompting immediate support from the 'Maersk Nomazwe'. Upon arrival, the crew of the 'Maersk Nomazwe' provided First Aid to one injured crew member from the 'Maersk Sana'. In a coordinated effort, other crew members were transferred to the 'Maersk Nomazwe' for their safety. On April 30, those crew members were evacuated to Bermuda for further medical attention. Of the injured, one was treated and released, while another remains hospitalized. Following these events, the 'Maersk Nomazwe' has successfully resumed its journey to Newark, where it is expected to dock on May 3.

An urgent medevac operation took place on August 23, 2019, when a crew member aboard the 'Safmarine Nomawzwe' sustained an eye injury while navigating southeast of the Nab Tower. The Bembridge RNLI Lifeboat was dispatched at 9 p.m. following a call from the Solent Coastguard. At the time, the vessel was approximately ten miles away from the tower, making its way to South America. Responding swiftly to the situation, the lifeboat crew facilitated the safe transfer of the injured male using a pilot ladder. After stabilization on board, the lifeboat proceeded to Portsmouth Camber, where an ambulance was arranged to meet them for further medical assistance.
