CMA CGM, the prominent French shipping giant, along with its partner Marfret, is set to significantly enhance their 'Panama Direct' service (IMO #115), which operates between North Europe and New Zealand through the Panama Canal. This upgrade will see a drastic increase in sailing frequency, transitioning from bi-weekly to weekly departures, effectively doubling the service availability. The revamped schedule commenced with the maiden voyage of the 2,226 TEU CMA CGM MANET, which departed Tilbury on September 18. The 'Panama Direct' service currently utilizes a fleet of six vessels, each ranging from 2,226 to 3,104 TEU, on an 84-day voyage cycle.
