On April 18, 2015, the bulk carrier 'Margret Oldendorff,' originating from the Bulk and Coal Quay in Richard's Bay, encountered a series of challenges while navigating the Suez Canal amidst dense fog. This incident occurred in conjunction with the Danish-flagged container ship 'Susan Maersk,' which also found itself in a precarious situation as it ran aground on a sand bank while proceeding north. The unfortunate events resulted in significant traffic delays that stretched for several hours. According to canal authority sources, there was a reported collision between the two vessels, which caused a minor puncture on the 'Margret Oldendorff' just above the waterline. Following the incident, the bulk carrier successfully reached Iskenderun anchorage by April 20, 2015.
