The vessel had departed from Nea Karvali, en route to Kalamaki, Corinth, carrying a substantial load of 2,003 tonnes of fertilizer and with a crew of nine onboard. In response to the incident, a patrol boat and tugboat were quickly dispatched to the scene, successfully assisting in the extraction of the 'Mastronikos' from the shallows. The ship was subsequently escorted safely into the port of Keramoti. Following the incident, the Port Authority of Kavala imposed a ban on the vessel's departure until a class maintenance certificate was presented by the attending classification society. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries or environmental pollution.
