The fully cellular containership MSC Cordoba, weighing 50,963 gross tons and launched in 2008, encountered a mechanical setback due to a malfunctioning fuel pump while sailing from Antwerp, Belgium, to Gebze, Turkey. The incident occurred at coordinates latitude 50°17'14.5"N and longitude 0°55'33.0"W, approximately 23 nautical miles southeast of St. Catherine's Point. Following the report of the fuel pump issue, the vessel was temporarily classified as not under command. MSC Cordoba carries a significant load of hazardous materials, including various classes of Dangerous Goods (2.1, 2.2, 3, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 8, and 9), as well as 700 metric tonnes of low sulfur oil, 53 metric tonnes of lube oil, 114.1 metric tonnes of diesel oil, and 273.8 metric tonnes of high sulfur oil. Fortunately, the problem has now been resolved, and the ship is back on its course, ensuring the safe continuation of its journey.
