The integration of Gjemnes follows the deployment of the MV ALK, a high-capacity 657 TEU container vessel, into shortsea services along the Norwegian West Coast back in mid-2015. Situated centrally within the county of More and Romsdal, Gjemnes is ideally positioned between the thriving oil, gas, and salmon industries located in Kristiansund and Molde. The well-known vessel 'Kappeln' has officially changed hands, now owned by Lubeca Marine, a company based in Lübeck. The sale was concluded recently, with the delivery of the ship scheduled for the end of February 2015. Following its acquisition, the 'Kappeln' will undergo a significant overhaul lasting approximately 2-3 weeks to prepare for its new mission. Previously, this container ship was towed to the port of Glückstädt in July 2014 after its former owner, a closed investment fund, declared bankruptcy.
