On April 26, 2026, a significant incident occurred when the vessel 'Med Beykoz', traveling from Gebze to Izmir, experienced an engine malfunction off the coast of Akbaş, close to the Çanakkale Strait. The Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Centre managed the emergency response, ensuring the safety of the crew and vessel.
