Working Conditions Aboard the Medkon-Canakkale

On November 6, 2018, at 9:40 a.m., the container vessel 'Conmar Gulf', while navigating from Kemi to Hamburg, collided with a platform that served as a signal light to mark the remnants of the former jetty 3 near the locks of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel. The allision resulted in the platform collapsing into the water. In response to the hazardous situation created by the accident, a warning buoy was deployed to alert other vessels in the vicinity. Notably, the incident occurred during periods of dense fog that reduced visibility. After addressing the situation, the 'Conmar Gulf' continued its journey, departing at 11 a.m. and ultimately arriving in Hamburg at 11 p.m.

The 'Conmar Gulf' successfully departed from North Port in Kiel on January 23 at 10:15 p.m. after completing essential engine repairs and renewing its class certification. The vessel encountered fuel supply issues while navigating the Kiel Canal near Breiholz on January 22. After initial repairs, the crew was able to continue westward; however, the ship experienced further mechanical failure near Schwartenbek. In response, tugs 'Bülk' and 'Holtenau' were dispatched from Kiel, assisting the 'Conmar Gulf' toward Voith Quay, where it began its substantial repairs at approximately 10:30 p.m.

On January 22, 2017, at approximately 11:20 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Conmar Gulf,' while navigating its course from Antwerp to Kokkola, experienced a disabling incident within the Kiel Canal near the Levensau Bridge. In the early hours of January 23, at around 5:15 a.m., the ship successfully docked at the Voith Quay in the North Port of Kiel, where it initiated troubleshooting procedures to address the issues encountered during transit.
