On November 28, 2019, at 11:50 PM, the cargo vessel 'Meile B', which was making its way from Leixões to Oxelösund with an estimated time of arrival of December 1, encountered a mishap at the old lock of Brunsbüttel. During its entry maneuver in the old foreport, the vessel collided with the sheet piling and several dolphins. This unfortunate incident was primarily triggered by strong currents and winds that redirected the ship off its intended path. As a result of the allision, several dolphins were dislodged and ended up floating in the water, necessitating a salvage operation. Furthermore, the incident caused noticeable damage to the port side bow of the 'Meile B', with dents measuring up to 20 centimeters deep.
