On June 18, 2012, the Coast Guard successfully medevaced a 60-year-old man from the 'Svendborg', situated approximately 30 miles east of Morehead City, North Carolina. The call for assistance came in at around 6:15 p.m. when a member of the Ship Arrival Notification System informed Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders of an incident involving a passenger who had fallen and sustained head trauma. In response, rescue teams launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, along with a 47-foot Motor Life Boat from Coast Guard Station Fort Macon.
