On April 23, 2024, at 11:35 PM local time, the oil tanker 'Minerva Antonia' encountered grounding issues while departing from the Iskenderun Global Terminal, bound for Agioi Theodori. Fortunately, there were no reported damages or signs of marine pollution following the incident. The vessel was successfully refloated and safely moored for inspections at the coordinates 36° 50.13' N and 036° 08.59' E. On February 22, 2011, the vessel Minerva Antonia, identified by IMO number 9380398, arrived at the small port of Ras Lanuf with a crucial mission: to facilitate the evacuation of Greek citizens amidst the escalating unrest in Libya. The ship is scheduled to set sail on February 23. Among those awaiting rescue are numerous Greek-Cypriotic workers who have been involved in various humanitarian projects and now find themselves stranded in the Libyan desert, anxiously awaiting assistance.
