Urgent Medivac Operation Near Huelva Saves Injured Crew Member
On February 20, 2025, the Helimer 220 search and rescue helicopter, operated by Salvamento Marítimo, successfully conducted a medical evacuation of an injured crew member from the vessel 'Mohac'. The ship was located 17 nautical miles south of Huelva, specifically at coordinates 36° 50' N 006° 50' W, when it issued a distress call to the Maritime Traffic Control Centre (MRCC) seeking urgent medical assistance. The crew member had sustained a serious foot injury that was worsening due to infection, rendering him unable to walk. Swiftly hoisted from the ship, he was transported to Jerez airport. Awaiting him there was an ambulance to ensure he received prompt medical attention at a nearby hospital, facilitating his recovery from this harrowing incident.
