On September 1, the new Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi commenced its commercial operations with the arrival of the MSC Bari, according to the port's operator, Abu Dhabi Ports Company. This state-of-the-art facility is set to revolutionize container handling in the region by replacing the aging 40-year-old Port of Mina Zayed. Initially, Khalifa Port boasts a remarkable capacity to process 2.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually. Additionally, it is equipped to manage up to 12 million tons of non-containerized cargo, which includes 4 million tons transported from the adjacent Emirate Aluminium berth, operational since late 2010. This significant development positions Khalifa Port as a critical logistics hub in the Middle East, enhancing trade and economic growth.
