MSC Cadiz Comes to the Aid of 62 Migrants in Distress
On November 15, 2022, the container vessel MSC Cadiz, traveling from Aliaga to Valencia, made headlines by rescuing 62 individuals from a sailboat that issued a distress signal near the island of Kos. The sailboat was in peril, taking on water amid turbulent seas close to the secluded island of Syrna, located south of Kos. In a commendable act of maritime assistance, the crew of the MSC Cadiz quickly altered their course to respond to the emergency. They successfully rescued all 62 migrants and later transferred them to a patrol boat stationed off Akrotiri. The migrants were subsequently taken to the Closed and Controlled Migrant Center in Kos.
