MSC Channe Faces Steering Malfunction During Sea Trials in East China Sea
On October 17, 2015, the container ship MSC Channe encountered a steering failure while conducting sea trials in the East China Sea, approximately 125 nautical miles east of Zhoushan Island. In response to the emergency, a salvage tug was quickly dispatched to aid the struggling vessel. After being towed for 17 hours, the MSC Channe safely reached an anchorage location south of Shanghai. At the time of the incident, there were 82 individuals on board, including both crew members and yard personnel.
