At approximately 4:15 a.m., the suspect quickly leaped overboard and swam to a waiting motorboat, which then sped away from the scene. Following the incident, the crew performed a thorough inspection of the ship and its inventory. During this examination, they discovered two broken padlocks and a lighter with an operational pin light, which were presumed to belong to the intruder. A subsequent inventory review revealed the theft of several items, including one jet chisel machine, two cans of paint, one forward bell, three immersion suits, two breathing apparatus cylinders, one breathing apparatus, and one chemical suit. The crew promptly reported the incident to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Command Centre. Responding swiftly, a team from Coast Guard Station Manila boarded the vessel to conduct an inquiry and confirm the details of the incident. The 'AS Clarita' departed Manila on January 26 at 6:30 a.m. and arrived at Subic Bay on January 27, following the unfortunate theft.
