Repairs on MSC Leanne Finalized After Collision Incident

The 'MSC Leanne' has successfully completed its repairs following a collision incident. The work was carried out by Samkang S&C Co., Ltd. in Goseong, with the final touches wrapped up on January 17, 2018. After repairs, the vessel was relocated to the Jangseungpo anchorage on January 19 at 4 p.m., where it will remain idle for a period of 1 to 2 weeks as it awaits further commercial assignments. The incident occurred when the 'MSC Leanne' collided with the 'C.C. Great' while the latter was entering Busan on December 12, 2017. The accident caused significant damage to the port side shell plating of the vessel, necessitating immediate attention before it could resume service. The ship arrived at Samkang S&C Co., Goseong, for repairs on January 4.

Ocean Yield ASA, a prominent Norwegian shipping company, has officially received the colossal 19,500 TEU container vessel, MSC Leanne, from renowned South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). The official handover took place on March 22, 2023, marking a significant milestone for the shipowner. Following its delivery, the impressive 196,000 dwt ship entered into a long-term 15-year bareboat charter agreement with the Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). MSC Leanne spans an impressive 399.9 meters in length and 58.8 meters in width, rounding out a fleet of six ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs) jointly owned by Ocean Yield and Quantum Pacific Shipping, a segment of Quantum Pacific Group.
