On November 17, 2021, the German Maritime Safety Investigation Office alerted the Gabinete de Investigação de Acidentes Marítimos e da Autoridade para a Meteorologia Aeronáutica (GAMA) about an incident involving the container ship 'MSC Letizia'. During its passage along the Elbe River, the wake generated by the MSC Letizia led to the breaking of mooring lines on the German-flagged service vessel 'Pirol'. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries or environmental pollution. GAMA has since gathered all relevant evidence for a thorough investigation and has communicated the findings to the European Commission via the European Maritime Casualty Information Platform (EMCIP). Notably, the last recorded call of the MSC Letizia in Hamburg took place on September 21-22.
