Inspectors identified six deficiencies during their evaluation, each deemed serious enough to warrant the vessel's detention. The critical findings highlighted significant issues that raised concerns about the ship's operational safety. The Mediterranean Shipping Co. SRL, the ISM company managing the 'MSC London,' has been tasked with addressing these deficiencies. Following the inspection, the vessel was released from detention later that same day and set sail towards Shekou, with an expected time of arrival on April 21.

On July 30, 2019, the vessel 'MSC London', with a crew of 21, experienced an engine failure while departing from the Iconium Pier in Piraeus. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. north of Psytalia. In response, the ship was assisted by the tugs 'Christos XLIII', 'Karapiperis 18', 'Alexander 3', and 'Alexander 5', which towed it to a designated anchorage within the port for necessary repairs and inspections. By July 31, 'MSC London' was confirmed to be stationary at position 37° 52.39' N 023° 33.41' E. Following the resolution of the engine issues, the next intended destination for the vessel was Suez.

On October 3, 2017, the MSC London faced an unexpected challenge as a fire ignited within two containers while it was traveling from Tanjung Pelepas to Rotterdam. The incident occurred in the Atlantic Ocean, in proximity to the coasts of Portugal and Spain. Swiftly responding to the emergency, the crew expertly extinguished the flames before they could escalate. After successfully navigating the situation, the vessel docked safely at Maasvlakte in Rotterdam on October 6 at 8 p.m. As of now, the full extent of the fire and any resulting damages remains unconfirmed.

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has recently added the MSC London, a remarkable 15,908-TEU mega ship, marking a significant milestone in its fleet expansion. This vessel is the first of six similar-sized ships being constructed at the STX Shipyard in Korea, under a charter agreement with Zodiac Maritime and Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS). As of now, MSC boasts a fleet of 26 vessels, with sizes varying from 13,798 TEU to 14,000 TEU, as reported by Alphaliner. Notably, these new six vessels were originally commissioned by Zodiac Maritime in October 2010 as 13,000 TEU ships. However, one year later, they were upgraded to their current capacity of 15,908 TEU, making them the largest container ships ever built at this yard. The ownership of two of these contracts was transferred from Zodiac to EPS in the previous year, as part of a fleet division among the heirs of the late shipping magnate Sammy Ofer. Currently managed by Zodiac, the MSC London is set to enhance capacity records as she joins the Asia-Eastern Mediterranean Tiger service, making her debut at the major ports of Istanbul and Piraeus.
