The search remains ongoing for the six crew members abducted from the MSC Mandy near the coast of Benin. As of now, there have been no communications from the kidnappers. The incident occurred between January 1 and 2, when a group of eight to ten pirates targeted the container ship while it was navigating within Benin's territorial waters. They stole supplies and took six of the men hostage. At the time of the attack, the MSC Mandy was carrying a total of 24 to 26 crew members, including 20 Russians, four Ukrainians, and two Georgians. The vessel was en route from Lome, Togo, to Lagos, Nigeria when the piracy event unfolded. Following the incident, the MSC Mandy proceeded to Nigeria and returned to the main port of Benin on January 5. Diplomats were able to visit the ship, engaging with the remaining crew during their stay in port.
