On the night of October 11, 2017, a tragic hit and run incident occurred approximately 45 miles off the Beypore coast in the Arabian Sea, involving the Indian fishing vessel 'Emmanuvel' (Registration No. TN15/MM/4426). The fishing boat was struck by an unidentified merchant ship, leading to a disastrous situation where only two of the six crew members were rescued. The owner of the 'Emmanuvel' was found deceased, while three others remained missing. Despite the collision, the offending merchant ship failed to stop and continued its journey. After arriving at Mumbai anchorage on October 16, the container ship 'Hyundai Global', which had just come from Nhava Sheva, was detained for questioning due to its suspected involvement in the incident. Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.

On June 1, 2012, a fire erupted aboard the container ship Hyundai Global while it was navigating approximately ten miles off the coast of Walton, heading towards Oman. The Thames Coastguard received an emergency alert at 8:30 AM. The incident originated in one of the containers located on the ship's deck, and a second container was subsequently discovered to be smoldering. Fortunately, the dedicated crew of 24 acted promptly to extinguish the flames, ensuring that no injuries were reported among them. After the successful containment of the fire, the Hyundai Global resumed its voyage without further incident.
