Tugboat Prepares for Towing Mission of Container Ship Back to Wellington
The tugboat 'Skandi Emerald' has temporarily left the 'Shiling' at anchor in Tasman Bay to conduct a crew exchange in anticipation of towing the container ship back to Wellington. Maritime New Zealand announced on May 17 that as soon as a detailed towing plan is finalized, the 'Skandi Emerald' will guide the 'Shiling' through the Cook Strait toward Wellington Harbour. Prior to this, the 'Skandi Emerald' successfully towed the 'Shiling' from its original location, where it experienced a power failure 22 nautical miles north-northwest of Farewell Spit, to its current position within the bay.
