In a heartbreaking incident on September 6, 2023, three crew members aboard the bulk carrier MSXT Echo were discovered unconscious within the vessel's cargo hold while navigating off the eastern coast of Taiwan. The ship was transporting a load of coal from Richards Bay to Hoping, with a scheduled arrival date of September 10. While cruising in loops along the coast, the situation escalated, prompting the Taiwanese Coast Guard to intervene.
