Bulk Carrier 'Mustafa Bey' Detained for Safety Violations in Pozzallo
On May 18, 2026, the Pozzallo Coast Guard took decisive action by imposing a €10,000 administrative penalty during an inspection of the bulk carrier 'Mustafa Bey'. This routine inspection was carried out by members of the Pozzallo Port Authority, aiming to uphold national and international maritime safety and environmental regulations. Inspectors identified 18 serious irregularities, particularly concerning environmental practices, fire prevention measures, and maritime safety protocols. Among these, seven were classified as critical, prompting the detention of 'Mustafa Bey' until all safety deficiencies were thoroughly addressed. Notably, 'Mustafa Bey' became the third vessel to face detention at Pozzallo in 2026. After corrective actions were completed, the ship was released on May 26 and set sail for Bari, arriving there on May 30. Following a brief stay, it departed for Constanta on June 4, with an estimated time of arrival on June 9.
