On November 26, 2015, the maritime community was alerted to the disappearance of Luis Leyva Aliaga, the 62-year-old chief engineer aboard the vessel 'Berkay N.' The alarming incident took place in the Atlantic Ocean near Puerto Rico, where Aliaga was last seen around 11 p.m. the previous evening. He failed to report for duty the following morning, raising immediate concerns about his whereabouts. Despite exhaustive search efforts, including deployment of a U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) ship and helicopter, Aliaga remains unaccounted for, presumed lost overboard. At the time of the incident, the 'Berkay N' was navigating the waters from Gibraltar to Cuba, making the search area approximately 45 miles north of Puerto Rico, situated between the bustling ports of San Juan and Aguadilla.
