Drug Bust: 130 Kilos of Cocaine Discovered in Baby Diapers Aboard Luna Maersk
In a shocking discovery, authorities unearthed four suitcases containing a staggering 130 kilos of cocaine concealed within a shipment of baby diapers. This illicit cargo was located on the container ship 'Luna Maersk', which docked at Lazaro Cardenas on March 8, 2017, after making the journey from Panama. It's important to note that neither the vessel nor its crew were suspected of any involvement in drug trafficking activities. Following the incident, the 'Luna Maersk' departed the port as per its schedule, making a stop at Manzanillo on March 9 before resuming its voyage to Yokohama, with an estimated arrival date of March 25.
DAL Stellendam Delayed at Rotterdam Due to Spider Inspection
In an unusual incident, the container ship DAL Stellendam encountered a delay while trying to enter the port of Rotterdam on the night of October 8, 2013. The vessel, en route from Cape Town, raised alarms after crew members spotted what they believed to be dangerous Black Widow spiders on board. Acting swiftly, the crew captured some of these arachnids and disposed of them into the sea. Once the DAL Stellendam arrived in Rotterdam, authorities conducted a thorough inspection to ensure the safety of the ship and its cargo. The inspection revealed the presence of approximately 20 additional spiders, which were caught for further evaluation. Experts later confirmed that these spiders were not the feared Black Widows, but rather the less harmful Brown Widows. After the inspection concluded, the DAL Stellendam was cleared to berth, albeit a day later than scheduled.
