The Malaysian Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, announced that the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will officially come to a close at the end of this week. The aircraft, which vanished on March 8, 2014, was carrying 239 passengers on its journey from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it disappeared from radar over the vast Indian Ocean. Initially, a collaborative search effort involving Malaysia, China, and Australia was launched; however, this search was suspended for the first time in January 2017 due to a lack of findings. In early 2018, the Malaysian government enlisted the services of 'Ocean Infinity' to reignite the search efforts. Unlike previous initiatives, this company was promised remuneration only upon successful discovery of the wreckage, with a potential fee of $70 million and an initial contract spanning three months. Throughout the years, this search period has seen multiple extensions, but Minister Loke indicated that further extensions are no longer justifiable.
