Collision Involving Norwegian Roro Ferry Amber at Vatlestraum
In the early hours of March 12, 2010, at approximately 4:04 a.m., a maritime incident occurred involving the Norwegian roro ferry 'Amber,' weighing 6,719 GT (IMO: 8917871), and another vessel, 'Noblesse-C,' near the Vatlestraum narrow, south of Bergen. The Norwegian Coast Guard promptly deployed the vessels 'Tor' and 'Bergen' to the scene to assist with the situation. Following the collision, the 'Amber' ran aground, highlighting the critical need for effective communication, as both ships were operating with pilots on board at the time of the incident. Subsequently, divers were dispatched to inspect the vessel, which is managed by Euroafrican Shipping Lines and was en route to Bergen at the time of the collision.
