An investigation has been initiated by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) following an allision involving the container vessel CMA CGM Mumbai. The incident occurred on October 13, 2023, at Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal Private Ltd (BMCTPL), which is managed by the Port of Singapore Authority. The CMA CGM Mumbai, arriving from Karachi, struck the BMCTPL jetty at the 252-meter mark, resulting in damages to both the jetty and the ship’s bow. This state-of-the-art vessel will embark on a fixed-rate time charter with CMA CGM S.A. for a duration of three years, complete with an option for an additional three-year term. The CMA CGM Mumbai was meticulously constructed at the renowned Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. This acquisition marks the third addition to Seaspan's fleet in a series of four 10,000 TEU vessels, all set to operate under time charter with CMA CGM, with deliveries taking place in the first half of 2018.
