Following successful repairs for allision damage, the cargo ship 'Spica' set sail from Las Palmas on April 12, 2023, at 7:30 PM. The vessel made its way to the TCT Terminal de Contenedores de Tenerife in Santa Cruz, arriving at 11:30 PM the same evening. This timely return to service highlights the efficiency of the repair efforts that took place since the incident.

On the evening of February 28, 2018, a dramatic incident unfolded in the port of Tenerife when the container ship 'Spica' was struck by the 'West Taurus'. The collision occurred around 11:50 p.m. as the 'West Eminence', an oil rig, broke free from its mooring due to severe winds associated with Storm Emma. The rig, anchored in the Eastern Basin, went adrift after a bollard malfunction, resulting in a breach of the 'Spica', which had been securely docked at the TCT Terminal de Contenedores de Tenerife since that same day, following its arrival from Las Palmas. The breach caused significant water ingress, leading to a dangerous three-meter rise in the cargo hold. In response, the Spanish emergency services were deployed, with seven bilge pumps brought in from Salvamento Marítimo, the Civil Guard, the fire brigade, and the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to manage the flooding. Skilled divers from the Servicios Marinos del Atlántico undertook emergency repairs, welding a 0.4-meter breach in the hull located below the waterline. Thanks to their swift action, the patch was successfully completed by 5:30 a.m. on March 1, stabilizing the ship without any reported oil spill incidents. Meanwhile, the oil rig was also successfully moored at the TCT Terminal de Contenedores. The 'Spica' departed from the port on March 9 and subsequently arrived at the Astican Shipyard in Las Palmas for extensive repairs on March 10 at 5:15 a.m. On April 12, the vessel was relocated back to the TCT Terminal de Contenedores de Tenerife in Santa Cruz.
