Among those rescued, 18 crew members hail from India, while the remaining one is from Turkey. In a critical development, Indian officials are actively negotiating for the safe return of 19 crew members abducted from the 'Nave Constellation' on December 3, off the coast of Nigeria. The Indian Foreign Service has established communication with the pirates involved in the incident, with the father of the ship's captain playing a significant role in facilitating these discussions. Normally, the vessel is protected by armed guards during its voyages to Nigeria; however, this safeguard was not in place during the hijacking. Following the attack, the remaining seven crew members, who were onboard the fully loaded tanker, managed to navigate the ship to a secure location, anchoring it near Bonny at coordinates 02° 3.34' N 004° 24. Prior to the incident, the tanker had departed the Bonny Offshore Terminal, completely laden with crude oil. This unfortunate event marks the fourth successful pirate attack this year in this region, highlighting ongoing maritime security challenges in these waters.
