Tragic Incident Claims Lives of Two Workers on Navis 2 in Balıkesir
A tragic event unfolded on August 22, 2024, as two workers aboard the 'Navis 2' were confirmed dead after a suspected gas poisoning incident while the vessel was anchored in the Gulf of Bandırma, located in the Balıkesir district. The deceased, identified as Konstantin Martynov, aged 46, and Dmitry Mochalov, aged 52, were found in the manhole section between holds 3 and 2 of the ship. After the event, Konstantin Martynov's body was retrieved from the vessel, which was subsequently docked at Bandırma Çelebi Port for cargo unloading, following an expedited request from the ship's management. Rescue teams located Dmitry Mochalov's body early the next morning, and both were sent to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy and cause of death analysis.
