On the morning of May 20, 2014, the bulk carrier 'Ulus Prime' found itself aground in the Azov Sea, approximately 20 nautical miles southeast of the Mariupol port, precisely at coordinates 46 45N 037 35E, according to reports from odin.tc. This troublesome incident was attributed to a navigational error, leading to a draft loss of 35 centimeters. Fortunately, no damages or oil spills were recorded during the grounding. The 'Ulus Prime', carrying a cargo of 2,280 tons of steel, was en route from Istanbul to Baku in the Caspian Sea. Despite attempts to refloat the vessel using its own resources and later with the assistance of tugs, the efforts were hampered by a drop in water levels.
