On October 12, 2023, the bulk carrier 'New Legacy' was moved to the outer anchorage where it now awaits further instructions from its owners and a release order. This relocation follows the completion of its offloading operations earlier today. The vessel had previously been arrested due to legal action initiated by the owner of a lighter vessel that sunk after a collision with the 'New Legacy'.

A maritime accident unfolded on September 29, 2018, at Chittagong Anchorage when the lighter vessel "Char Samail" sank following a collision with the bulk carrier "New Legacy". The incident occurred as the "Char Samail" was in the process of unmooring from the bulk carrier "Densa Tiger". Out of the 13 crew members on board the lighter, nine were successfully rescued, while four remain missing. The lighter was loaded with approximately 400 tons of scrap prior to the collision. At the time of the accident, two additional lighters were moored alongside, adding to the chaos. Reports indicate that the incident was initially triggered when the "New Legacy" was struck by the "Densa Tiger", which subsequently caused the lighter "Char Samail" to capsize. The collision resulted in damage to both bulk carriers involved in this unfortunate maritime event.
