DeepOcean Secures Offshore Wind Farm Contract in Belgium
DeepOcean 1 UK Ltd, a division of DeepOcean Group Holding BV, has officially been awarded a significant contract for the installation of inter-array cables at the Blight Bank Phase II offshore wind farm located in Belgian waters. This ambitious project is being undertaken by Nobelwind NV and will feature 50 wind turbines, each generating 3.3MW of power, resulting in a total estimated capacity of 165MW for the wind farm. The wind turbine generators (WTGs) will be interconnected using 33kV inter-array cables that will seamlessly connect to the Nobelwind Offshore High Voltage Substation (OHVS). Furthermore, an export cable will link the Nobelwind OHVS to the existing 220kV Northwind OHVS, enhancing the region's renewable energy infrastructure. DeepOcean will leverage its fleet for this project, including the DP2 Support Vessel Deep Helder, which is designated to support cable laying operations, including preparations for crossings, surveys, and foundation work essential for cable pull-ins. Additionally, the trenching support vessel Volantis, equipped with the world's most powerful free-flying jet trencher, UT-1, will handle all trenching activities necessary for the installation. This project marks another significant milestone in Belgium's commitment to expanding its offshore wind capabilities, contributing to the country's renewable energy goals.
