On February 2, 2025, the cargo vessel 'Niko Pirosmani' was detained in Gemlik after authorities identified a staggering 20 deficiencies, 12 of which were classified as severe enough to warrant the vessel's detention. Key issues included the absence of the minimum safe manning documents, damaged ventilators and air pipes, and improperly maintained lifeboats.
