In a concerning incident at the port of Kotka on the morning of November 11, 2014, a crew member experienced a fall of approximately five meters into the cargo hold of the vessel 'Nina.' The unfortunate incident occurred as the man was navigating the edges of the hold, leading to a sudden drop onto the unoccupied bottom of the compartment. Fortunately, other crew members swiftly heard his cries for assistance and promptly notified the rescue department. Emergency responders arrived quickly, utilizing a platform lift to bring the injured Estonian man back to safety. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to Kymenlaakso Central Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment for his leg injury.
