On March 29, 2012, the KRNM lifeboat 'Joke Dijkstra' was urgently deployed to conduct a medical evacuation off the vessel 'Eemshorn,' which was en route from Rotterdam to Tornio. This incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. when a crew member sustained a serious hand injury while the ship was located near Callantsoog, heading towards Schulpengat. The 'Joke Dijkstra' arrived on the scene just 30 minutes later. By 8 p.m., the lifeboat was back at the port in Den Helder, where the injured man was transported to Gemini hospital for treatment. Despite the crew's efforts, the severity of the wound made it impossible for the individual to return to the ship. Subsequently, the 'Eemshorn' continued its journey north toward Tornio.
