In a significant enforcement action, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has imposed a ban on the Thorco Luna, a Philippines-flagged general cargo vessel. This decision follows a third detention of the ship this year due to recurrent noncompliance with international maritime regulations. The most recent detention occurred at Port Kembla, from which the vessel was released on June 8, 2018. However, Thorco Luna will be prohibited from entering any Australian port for a duration of three months. Between November 2017 and June 2018, AMSA conducted five inspections on the ship, leading to three detentions and a total of 34 reported deficiencies.
